the univrsity of houston organized a varieties of theatrical performances, concerts lectures, and events.It has over 400 students involved in organization and 17 intercollegiate sports teams.more than 400 student involved in arganization and 17 intercollegiate sports team. the cat's back,Homecoming, and Frontier Fiesta were traditions events include in annual UH. On March 7,1927 the university of Houston began as Houston junir college (HJC).

San Jacinto High School was the place where HJC was located and offer only nigh courses. March 7,17927 began the its first session, and that time 232 student and 1 faculty with an enrollment.first session's student were primarily held to educate the future teacher of the junior college,and freshmen were not allowed to inroll. September  19,1927,is  the more accurate date  for the official  opening of HJC. when enrollment was opening its aim was to educate all persons with having completed  the necessary educatinal requirements. Edison Ellsworth Oberholtzer was the first president of the HJC, and he was the dominant force in establishing the junior college.
